Block vs. Stringer Pallets

Block Pallets

Also called "four-way" pallets, they have blocks between deck boards for fork entry from all four sides.

  • Four-way entry (all sides)
  • Stronger load capacity
  • More stable and durable
  • Better for storage systems
  • Higher cost

Stringer Pallets

Use stringers (boards running length) to support deck boards. Most common and cost-effective.

  • Two-way or partial four-way entry
  • Lower cost
  • Lighter weight
  • Most widely used design
  • Easy to repair

Weight Capacity Guidelines

Weight capacity varies based on material, construction, and load distribution. Here are general guidelines:

Wood Pallets

  • Softwood: 1,500 - 2,500 lbs
  • Hardwood: 3,000 - 5,000 lbs
  • Heavy-duty: Up to 6,000 lbs

Plastic Pallets

  • Light-duty: 1,500 - 2,000 lbs
  • Medium-duty: 2,500 - 4,000 lbs
  • Heavy-duty: Up to 5,000 lbs

Metal Pallets

  • Aluminum: 3,000 - 5,000 lbs
  • Steel: 5,000 - 10,000 lbs
  • Heavy-duty steel: 10,000+ lbs

Important: Always distribute loads evenly across the entire pallet surface. Concentrated loads or uneven distribution can significantly reduce safe capacity.
